A Lamborghini hybrid? That's what Lambo says it's pursuing in a drive to lower emissions by more than third in the next six years.

It's a big step. When it comes to these exotic racing machines, performance has always been uncompromised by, well, basically anything. Now Lambo says it will decrease emissions by 35% by the year 2015. It says it has already made a big step forward with a its Gallardo LP 560-4, which was introduced last year and saw an 18% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. CO2 gets the most blame for global warming.
.
The Lambo of the future will weigh less, have a more efficient engine, and lower friction. Lambo is actively researching hybrid powerplants and the ability to run on biofuels.

Despite the difficult situation in today's global economy, Lamborghini is committed to its policy of environmental management," says CEO Stephan Winkelmann. "We have an objective to reduce CO2 emissions to the greatest possible degree."
