David’s Natural Food Market in the city’s Wilde Lake Village Center is expanding. The expansion will yield 9,000 sq. ft. and should be completed in November.

O’Hara, Pa.-based Giant Eagle supermarket in November plans to open two new stores in Columbus, Ohio. The stores, which will average 126,000 sq. ft., will include organic foods, sushi and made-to-order sandwiches.

The Vitamin Outlet moved out of its Walled Lake, Mich., corporate headquarters and warehouse into a 15,000-sq.-ft. facility in Wixom, Mich. Additionally, the company opened a new retail location in Warren, Mich.—its 10th in five years.

Eugene, Ore.-based Wright’s Foodliner is changing its last local Price Chopper store into a PC Market by Choice, which promotes organic and locally produced foods.

Zagara’s Specialty and Natural Foods, an upscale retailer based in Marlton, N.J., has announced plans to expand its private-label bath and body offerings in the next six months.

According to Supermarket News, San Antonio-based H-E-B says it will open Central Markets in Houston, Fort Worth, Dallas and Plano by the end of 2001.

In an effort to raise consumer awareness about the ecological impact of the seafood industry, Whole Foods Market (WFMI) in northern California and Washington state are distributing California-based Monterey Bay Aquarium’s “Seafood Watch” buying guides in their seafood departments.
