Shaman Pharmaceuticals Inc. (SHMN) reported a net loss for 3Q97 of $6 million or $.34/share vs. a net loss of $5 million or $.37/share for 3Q96. SHMN also recorded a $3.7 million noncash, SEC-required financing charge, making the total 3Q97 net loss $9.7 million or $.55/share.
Chai-Na-Ta Corp. (CCCFF) reported 3Q97 losses of $.36/share on net income of $140,000 vs. 3Q96 losses of $.11/share on net income of $431,000.
Imperial Ginseng Products Ltd. (IGPFF) reported a net loss of $9.4 million or $6.34/share for FY97 on revenues of $5.3 million vs. a net loss of $600,000 or $.39/share on revenues of $18.5 million in FY96. IGPFF also initiated a private placement valued at $547,000.
IVC Industries Inc. (IVCO) reported FY97 sales increased 4% to a record $108.5 million from $104.2 million in FY96. Net income was $1.3 million or $.08/share vs. $296,000 or $.02/share in FY96.
Natural Alternatives International (NAII) reported 1Q98 sales rose 5% to $12 million over sales of $11.4 million in 1Q97. Net income was $598,000 or $.11/share vs. $900,373 or $.16/share, for 1998.
Tofutti Brands Inc. (TOF) earned $100,000 or $.02/share on sales of $1.9 million in its 3Q97 ended Sept. 27, up from $55,000 in income or $.01/share, on sales of $1.66 million in 3Q96.
Lifeway Foods Inc. (LWAY) announced 3Q97 income was $156,000 or $.04/share on sales of $1.5 million, steady from 3Q96 income of $160,000 or $.04/share on sales of $1.37 million.
Whitewing Labs Inc. (WWLI) said sales increased to $987,518 for its 3Q97, up from $812,843 a year earlier. Net loss was $136,271 or $.05/share, down from a loss of $423,178 or $.16/share in 3Q96. The exercise price of the company’s warrants was reduced in November from $7 to $3.
Senetek PLC (SNTKY) said 3Q97 revenues were $1.37 million, compared with revenues of $1.74 million in 3Q96. Net loss was $3 million or $.06/share, up from a loss of $919,000 or $.02/share in 3Q96. The company increased its cash position to $8.5 million.
Hansen Natural Corp. (HANS) reported net sales of $13.4 million for 3Q97, up 24.4% from $10.8 million in 3Q96. Net income of $501,009 or $.05/share was up from $111,336 or $.01/share a year earlier.
CNS Inc. (CNXS) said net sales were $12.6 million for 3Q97, down from $19.4 million for 3Q96. Domestic retail sell-through of the company’s flagship product Breathe Right nasal strips was estimated to be 9% higher than during 3Q96. Net income was $2.6 million or $.13/share, compared to $3.9 million or $.19/share for 3Q96, due primarily to lower international sales.
Healthy Planet Products Inc. (HPP) reported a net loss for 3Q97 of $105,191 or $.06/share on net sales of $1.4 million, compared with net income of $184,935 or $.09/share on sales of $1.9 million in 3Q96. The loss was attributed to lower sales from seasonal factors and lower margins from fixed overhead costs, higher discounts offered on seasonal products to discourage returns and a one-time royalty sale to a licensee.
Real Goods Trading Corp. (RGTC) said net sales for 2Q98 ended Sept. 27 increased 8% to $3.34 million compared to $3.09 million a year earlier, excluding a $200,000 bonus paid in FY97. A loss of $102,000 or $.03/share was reported for the quarter, compared to a loss of $35,000 or $.01/share for 2Q97.
Hauser Inc. (HAUS) said uncertainty in the paclitaxel market contributed to a 59% decrease in sales of the drug in the 2Q. The company still raised overall sales from $5.89 million in 2Q97 to $6.1 million in 2Q98, while net loss decreased from $1.2 million or $.12/share to $1.07 million or $.10/share in 2Q98. Hauser announced a $2.3 million collaborative agreement with the National Institute on Drug Abuse for custom synthesis of drug compounds under development as treatment agents for drug addiction.
HealthRite Inc. (HLRT) lost $589,000 or $.14/share on sales of $3.3 million in 3Q97, compared with income of $238,000 or $.05/share in 3Q96. The decline is due to the divestiture of the Vitamin Specialties Division.
Gum Tech International Inc. (GUMM) reported net income for 3Q97 of $24,800, up from a loss of $1.66 million in 3Q96. Sales rose from $396,757 to $1.78 million in the period, mostly because of its CigArrest product, accounting for $600,000 in net sales.
PharmaPrint Inc. (PPRT) lost $6.37 million or $.57/share in its 2Q98 ended Sept. 30. The company lost $4.52 million or $.46/share in 2Q97. No revenue was reported in either quarter. The company received $2.5 million from American Home Products as first payment in an agreement whereby PharmaPrint’s products will be sold under AHP’s Centrum brand.
Alta Natural Herbs & Supplements Ltd. (AHS) said consolidated sales increased by 244% to C$3.1 million in FY97 compared with C$1.27 million in FY96. In 3Q97 Alta earned C$74,090 or C$.0053/share on C$841,702 in sales. AHS is in negotiations to acquire a manufacturer of vitamin and mineral supplements early in 1998.
Weider Nutrition International (WNI) declared a $.03/share dividend payable Dec. 15 to shareholders-of-record Dec. 1.
Nutrition for Life Intl. Inc. (NFLI) declared a quarterly cash dividend of $.02 per common share payable Jan. 8, 1998, to shareholders-of-record as of Dec. 19, 1997.
Nature’s Sunshine (NATR) announced a dividend of $.33/share payable Nov. 25 to stockholders-of-record Nov. 17.
