Piedmont Farms, a 1,500-acre organic produce farm in Wellington, CO, considered to be Colorado’s largest grower of organic foods, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The action comes five months after TKO Farms in Hollister, CA, filed a Chapter 7 petition to liquidate the company. It is believed that Piedmont was a major creditor of TKO Farms. Piedmont co-owner Lou Grant had told Natural Business in July that TKO’s financial woes had “seriously hurt our cash flow.”
