Irwin Naturals/4Health Inc. (HHHH) reported 3Q98 net revenue of $7.2 million, up 11% from $6.5 million reported in 3Q97. Net income was $924,000 or $.03/share, compared to a net loss of $388,000 or $.01/share in 3Q97. The 3Q98 results include the operations of both Irwin Naturals and 4Health.

Wild Oats Markets (OATS) said sales in its 3Q98 ended Sept. 26 were $96.8 million, an increase of 21% over sales of $80 million in 3Q97. Net income increased 64% to $3 million or $.22/share from $1.8 million or $.17/share in 3Q97. OATS opened new stores in Miami Beach, FL, and Santa Monica, CA, with 4Q98 openings planned in Indianapolis, Las Vegas and Memphis, TN.

Hansen Natural Corp. (HANS) reported record 3Q98 operating results. Net income more than doubled to $1.1 million or $.11/share from $501,000 or $.05/share a year ago. Net sales rose 24% to $16.6 million from $13.4 million in 3Q97.

Natural Alternatives International Inc. (NAII) in its 1Q99 ended June 30 earned $1.52 million or $.25/share, up from $598,420 or $.11/share last year. Sales were $16.99 million, up from $12.03 million in 1Q98.

GumTech International Inc. (GUMM) reported net sales of $1.29 million for its 3Q98, up slightly from 3Q97. It lost $532,000 or $.09/share, compared to a $559,000 or $.10/share loss in 3Q last year.

Lifeway Foods Inc. (LWAY) reported record sales of $1.75 million in 3Q98, up 16% from $1.5 million in 3Q97. Net income was $183,404 or $.05/share compared to $155,712 or $.04/share last year.

J.M. Smucker Co. (SJM) declared a $.14/share dividend to be paid Dec. 1 to shareholders-of-record Nov. 17.

HealthRite Inc. (HLRT) reported $5.19 million in 3Q98 sales, up from $3.31 million in 3Q97. Net income was $478,000 or $.09/share, up from a $589,000 or $.14/share loss in 3Q97.

Odwalla Inc. (ODWA) said 4Q98 (ended Aug. 29) net sales were $15.3 million, up 13% from $13.6 million in 4Q97. ODWA lost $1.07 million or $.21/share compared to a loss of $2.73 million or $.54/share last year.

Horizon Organic Holding Corp. (HCOW) said 3Q98 sales grew 67% to $12.8 million from $7.6 million in 3Q97. Net income was $108,000 or $.01/share after an extraordinary item incurred for early retirement of debt. A net loss of $422,000 or $.08/share was reported in 3Q97.

Natural Health Trends Corp. (NHTCC) received an exemption from a Nasdaq panel that will allow its common shares to continue to be listed on the SmallCap market. It has until Feb. 1, 1999, to demonstrate its ability to sustain compliance. Also, it changed its symbol from NHTC to NHTCC.

IVC Industries Inc. (IVCO) said sales increased 10% to $119.8 million for its FY98 ended July 31, up from $108.5 million in FY97. Net income was $1.15 million or $.07/share, compared to $1.35 million or $.08/share in FY97.

Natrol Inc. (NTOL) announced net earnings of $2.5 million or $.20/share on sales of $19.5 million for 3Q98. Sales increased 71.2% from $11.4 million in 3Q97, while net income grew 90.1% from $1.3 million or $.13/share.

General Nutrition Cos. (GNCI) reported diluted earnings of $.26/share in its 3Q98 ended Oct. 10 before a $.01/share charge related to severance costs. Consoli-dated revenue grew by 10% to $305 million for the quarter and by 18% to $960 million for the first three quarters of FY98. Excluding the charges, 3Q98 earnings decreased by 21% to $19 million, while diluted EPS for the nine months increased 12% to $.96/share. Comparable store sales in the quarter decreased 1.6% for company-owned locations.

Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. (NUS) earned $30.9 million or $.36/share on $217.9 million in 3Q98 revenues, compared to $30.8 million or $.35/share on $243.1 million in 3Q97 revenue.

Vacu-dry Co. (VDRY), which acquired Made In Nature Inc. in June, reported consolidated results for its 1Q99 ended Sept. 30. A net loss of $129,000 or $.09/share on revenues of $8.2 million for 1Q99 was posted. Excluding Made In Nature results, a $.19/share profit would have been recorded, compared to $.06/share in 1Q98.

Herbalife Intl. Inc. (HERBA) said 3Q98 net sales increased 3% to $213 million from $207.2 million in 3Q97. Net income was $7.1 million or $.24/share, compared to $14.3 million or $.45/share in 3Q97.

Chai-Na-Ta Corp. (CCCFF) lost $961,000 or $.24/share on $2.08 million in revenues in its 3Q98. The company lost $1.44 million or $.36/share on $3.25 million in 3Q97 revenues. HSBC China Fund Ltd. granted Chai-Na-Ta a three-year extension of a $4.59 million loan that was scheduled to mature in October.

Body Shop Intl. Plc.’s (BDSPY) shares fell sharply to a record low after it said first-half profit tumbled 71% on reorganization charges and falling demand. Net income fell to £2.1 million ($3.5 million) or 1.1 pence/share for the first half ended Aug. 29. Last year it earned £7.4 million or 3.8 pence/share.

Seventh Generation Inc. (SVGN) said sales increased 35% in its 3Q98. Sales reached $2.11 million, compared to $1.56 million in 3Q97. Net loss increased to $149,253 or $.06/share compared to $97,376 or $.04/share in 3Q97.

PDK Labs Inc. (PDKL) said it will repurchase an additional 49,000 shares of its common stock. The company has bought 342,725 shares for $1.9 million since authorizing the $3 million purchase. The company also will purchase up to $500,000 worth of its preferred stock. It already repurchased 37,544 shares for $167,000.

Reliv International Inc. (RELV) said while 3Q98 sales grew, increased general, administrative and other business-development expenses affected earnings. Sales were $12.6 million, up from $11.5 million in 3Q97. Net profit of $73,000 or $.01/share was down from $282,000 or $.03/share in 3Q97.

AMBI Inc. (AMBI) said total revenues increased 86% to $5.8 million in its 1Q99 ended Sept. 30 compared to $3.1 million in 1Q98. Net income was $1.4 million or $.05/share diluted compared to a net loss of $700,000 or $.06/share in 1Q98.

Shaman Pharmaceuticals Inc. (SHMN) reported a net loss of $10.6 million or $.55/share in its 3Q98 compared with a net loss of $9.7 million or $.55/share in 3Q last year. Revenue was $560,000 as compared to $875,000 in 3Q97.

PacificHealth Laboratories Inc. (PHLI) reported $176,051 in 3Q98 revenues, down from $645,250 in 3Q97. Net loss was $606,208 or $.13/share compared to a net loss of $462,911 or $.16/share in 3Q97.

Whitewing Labs Inc. (WWLI) reported reduced losses for its 3Q98 of $106,633 or $.04/share compared with a $136,272 or $.05/share loss in 3Q97. Net sales were $629,481, down from $987,518 in 3Q97.

Hauser Inc. (HAUS) earned $69,000 or $.01/share on revenues of $9.6 million in its 2Q99 ended Oct. 31, compared to last year’s loss of $1.07 million or $.10/share on $6.1 million in revenues.

PharmaPrint Inc. (PPRT) reported revenues of $4.04 million and a net loss of $8.04 million or $.59/share in its 3Q98. In 3Q97 the company reported no revenues and a net loss of $6.37 million or $.58/share.

The Hain Food Group (HAIN) reported record sales for its 1Q99 ended Sept. 30 of $43.5 million, an increase of 166% over 1Q98 sales of $16.3 million. Net income was a record $1.76 million or $.12/share diluted, an increase of 269% over $476,000 or $.05/share in 1Q98. Hain agrees with current analysts’ earnings expectations of $.17/share for its 2Q99.

Celestial Seasonings Inc. (CTEA) said 4Q98 (ended Sept. 31) revenues increased 45% to $23.1 million from $15.9 million in 4Q97 and diluted EPS increased 71% to $.12/share from $.07/share. For the year, CTEA reported $102.2 million in revenue, up 29% from $79.04 million. Net income increased 19% to $6.76 million from $5.66 million, while diluted EPS increased 13% to $.77/share from $.68/share.

Leiner Health Products said net sales for its 2Q99 ended Sept. 30 were $149.4 million, an increase of 33% over $112.24 million in 2Q98. Net income was $83,000, up from a $440,000 loss last year.

Pure World Inc. (PURW) on Jan. 15 will distribute a 10% common stock dividend to shareholders-of-record on Jan. 7.
