Juice World Hopes to Ride Juice-Bar Trend

The company expects to ride the juice bar trend, which Inc. magazine claims may be one of the hottest upcoming franchising trends in the nation.
According to Michael Fullam, company president, Juice World plans to open 12 company stores and sell 15 franchises in 1997.
“We have letters of intent and approved applications, but no signed agreements,” Fullam says.
Juice World sells organic juices, smoothies, vitamins and supplements. The company plans to sell private-label supplements by the end of 1997.
Currently Juice World has stores in Chico, Santa Cruz and San Francisco, CA. Store sales range from $400,000 per year in the company’s original Chico store to $46,500 per month in San Francisco, Fullam says. About $300,000 to $1 million for annual sales is standard in the industry.
Build-out costs for company-owned stores are between $200,000 and $250,000. The initial franchise license fee is $20,000. Fullam quotes gross profit margins of 67%.
Fullam says he’d like the company to be national in three years but will concentrate on the West Coast initially.
