Organic Category Growth Averaged 36% in 1996-1997, OTA Says

In the highest percentage increases yet measured for organic products sales, The Organic Trade Association’s (OTA) inaugural Manufacturers’ Market Survey calculates overall average growth rates for all organic categories in 1996-1997 at 36%. Survey respondents project annual growth rates for 1997-1998 of about 30%, with grain snacks and candy growing at 89% and frozen foods growing about 69%. From 1992 to 1997, annual overall growth rates were 42%, OTA says.
