The star-studded fundraiser was hosted at the Bel Air, Calif., home of Peter and Tara Lynda Guber. Guber is former president of Sony Entertainment and current chairman and CEO of multi-media company Mandalay Entertainment. His wife is founder of the Yoga House, an international speaker and seminar organization. The Gaiam Yoga for Life youth education initiative is a project of Colorado-based lifestyles company Gaiam Inc. (GAIA) and the Yoga House.

More than 400 people were in attendance to raise awareness of a pilot yoga education program at the Accelerated School, an innovative charter public school located in South Central Los Angeles. “The Accelerated School was chosen because of its holistic approach to education for children in the inner city,” said Tara Guber.

The one-year pilot program will help develop a standard yoga curriculum to be introduced in innovative schools across the nation, said Lynn Powers, president of Gaiam.

The event featured spirituality author and
lecturer Deepak Chopra, plus an “unplugged” musical performance by Seal. Seal capped his set with a sing-along featuring the students from the Accelerated School's yoga class.

Other corporate sponsors of the fundraising event included Whole Foods Market, Premiere Video, Fairmont Hotels, MRT Technology and the Anthony Robbins Foundation. For information contact: 800.522.8705.
