The National Football League (NFL) Players Association is shopping for a single, reliable source of dietary supplements, according to a Nov. 20 Associated Press article in The Seattle Times. “We want someone to certify that what's in the bottle is what's in the bottle,” Gene Upshaw, executive director of the association, states via the Times. "If we do that, and a player tests positive, he didn't take our stuff."

The NFL recently suspended Lew Bush, a linebacker from the Kansas City team, for testing positive for a banned substance. Bush claimed to have taken the same supplement twice, passing the banned-substance screen the first time and failing a second screen, according to a Nov. 20 Nutrition Business Journal newsletter.
