Rockville, Md.-based U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) has established a new advisory panel on botanicals to advise its dietary supplements-botanicals expert committee on the development of information on botanicals pertaining to historical use, botanical identification, global regulatory status, good agricultural practices and handling. Twelve members from academia, government and industry will comprise the panel, which will be headed by William Popin, director of research and development and quality for Young Living Essential Oils.
Anheuser-Busch Co. (NYSE: BUS), a St. Louis, Mo.-based brewer, has applied to register a trademark for a product called 180 Sport, an enhanced water beverage, according to a Dec. 2 article at STLToday.com. The new trademark is a variant of the company's 180, a caffeinated, citrus-flavored energy drink.
Tofu and soy products manufacturer Wildwood Harvest Foods has retained Point Reyes Station, Calif.-based Straus Communications to handle the company's consumer and trade public relations.
Lewisville, Texas-based technology services company OrderDog Inc. and St. Augustine, Fla.-based natural products distributor Tree of Life Inc. have announced a program during which the companies will donate $25 to the Newport Beach, Calif.-based natural products retailer trade association, the National Nutritional Foods Association (NNFA), for every OrderDog system sold through Mar. 15, 2003. The companies will present a check to NNFA during NNFA's MarketPlace trade show in Las Vegas in June 2003.
