Beginning in January, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina will offer a new healthy-living education program to its members. Healthyroads for Living—which features website resources, information on guided imagery and mind/body skills, and telephone education services from trained registered dietitians, registered nurses, certified personal trainers and others—focuses on nutrition, exercise, chronic-illness prevention and smoking cessation. As part of the program, members can also get discounts on some health products and services.

“We are committed to offering our members the support they need to achieve their healthy lifestyle goals," states Thomas Faulds, president and CEO of the company's BlueCross division, in a Dec. 16 announcement.

In April, South Carolina's BlueCross began offering coverage for complementary and alternative medicine modalities including chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy.
