Nutraceuticals maker Carrington Laboratories Inc. (Nasdaq: CARN) has agreed to buy the Carrollton, Texas-based custom division of skin and cosmetics-products maker Creative Beauty Innovations Inc. (CBI). Carrington will pay $1.7 million, including $700,000 for inventory that CBI will transfer to CARN, plus a percentage of the custom division's net sales made to CBI's existing customers for the next five years, according to a Dec. 12 announcement. CARN will fold the division into its existing specialty-manufacturing facility.

CARN expects the deal to close in January; transfer of the division's operations should be complete during 1Q03. CRI's custom division makes private-label bath, body, skin and hair care products and private and semi-private label brands.
