GNC's Chief Marketing Officer Leaves After Short Tenure


Michael Tam, executive VP and chief marketing officer for General Nutrition Center (GNC), has left his position as after only a few months on the job. Tam took the position with GNC's Nordstrom Product Group during summer 2002, according to a Dec. 17 article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.




In November, GNC's parent company, Zoetermeer, The Netherlands-based Royal Numico NV (OTC BB: KNUMF.PK), announced plans to sell its Rexall Sundown subsidiary and to put the Pittsburgh-based GNC retail chain on “probation” (see Numico to Sell Rexall Sundown, LOHAS Journal Weekly, Nov. 8, 2002).




Shionogi Appoints Paul Brown to Lead Sales Team



Whitsett, N.C.-based Shionogi Qualicaps, a manufacturer of two-piece capsules and capsule-filling equipment for the pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements industries, has named Paul Brown as director of sales and marketing. Brown has more than 20 years of experience with sales for various industries. Brown has a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's in business administration.
