Corporate members of the Green Power Market Development Group—spearheaded by the Washington-based World Resources Institute and the San Francisco-based Business for Social Responsibility—are continuing to increase their renewable energy certificate purchases. And next year Green Power-affiliated companies including Alcoa Inc., Delphi Corp., DuPont, Interface, Pitney Bowes and Staples will be able to purchase as many as 795 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy credits from wind and bioenergy sources managed by Alpharetta, Ga.-based Sterling Planet.
“This demonstration of corporate environmental stewardship also benefits the business buyer by strengthening customer relations and differentiating products and services,” states Sterling Planet President and CEO Mel Jones, in a Nov. 25 article at GreenBiz.com.
