Flu length cut in half for those who took black elderberry extract.

A study of 54 flu patients indicates that doses of black elderberry extract can reduce the length of time the flu causes discomfort. Half of the test subjects took a placebo while the other half took black elderberry extract. After an average of 3.1 days, those who ingested the elderberry four times a day had recovered from the flu while the placebo subjects recovered in 7.1 days. Nature's Way Products Inc., makers of Sambucol black elderberry extract, conducted the study.
