Anthony Kiedis
Anthony Kiedis is most known as the singer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who spread love and messages of positivity to millions of people world-wide through their music. But behind the scenes, Anthony and his band are doing even more.
In 2002, the RHCP's teamed up with the Spitfire Agency to be the first major band to release their CD booklets & posters on tree free (hemp/flax) and PCW paper, supplied by the Living Tree Paper Company. This bold move brought environmental awareness to Warner Brothers Records president, who announced shortly thereafter that they would print all of their major releases on Living Tree's environmentally preferable papers - one of the biggest corporate moves toward sustainability ever made in the music industry.
In 2004, the Red Hot Chili Pepper's unveiled "The Red Hot Love Nest", a sustainably built eco-suite at San Francisco's Hotel Triton, which donates all of it's profit to Julia Butterfly's 501c3, Circle of Life.
This is just a small sample of the many good works Anthony and his band have been doing over the years to give back to this beautiful planet and it's people. Give it away, give it away, give it away now....

Charris Ford
Biodiesel advocate, Founder, Grassolean, Eco-Rapper
Char's passion for all things Eco started when he was 18 in the hills of Tennessee, where he spent ten years running the family's Organic farm, living with solar power, harvesting rainwater, chopping wood and hauling spring water.
Char became a student of Permaculture in 1989 and apprenticed with members of a nearby Amish community. The Amish taught him how to work his team of Belgian horses and they reinforced his love for doing things by hand. His fondest memories of Tennessee are of driving the horse drawn wagon, mowing with a scythe and foraging for wild food & medicine.
Char has been dedicated to protecting the environment and living "off grid" for over 18 years. Though living close to the land and striving to live in greater harmony with nature has always been his favorite kind of activism, he realized that dwindling resources, exploding populations and global warming would not resolve themselves, nor would they be remedied by a handful of dedicated "back to the land-ers". Significant cultural evolution requires extensive mainstream education and Char has since made awareness raising the focus of his environmental work.
In addition to running two biodiesel-powered vehicles of his own, (a Jetta Wagon and a Scout Truck which hasn't had a drop of dinosaur diesel in 5yrs), Char met actress Daryl Hannah in 1998 and introduced her to the budding Biodiesel movement. Since then he has helped her get a biodiesel El Camino and they have done a great deal of work together, raising awareness about the need to develop clean and renewable fuel sources for this nation and around the world.

Linda Loudermilk
Founder, luxury eco
luxury eco by Linda Loudermilk blends eco-conscious choice into the world of luxury goods.
At the heart of luxury eco is Linda Loudermilk. It was Linda's Corazon series, on the runway in Paris two years ago, that transformed her from fashion designer to conscientious couturier. The Corazon series featured images of bodies, branches and human hearts. Dubbed the "transformation of the heart," the series impacted Linda deeply. "I realized I didn't want to be just a fashion designer; I wanted to boost people's spirits, not just their egos."
The rare combination of artistic sensibility and keen commerce sense is reflected in Linda's family history. Linda's great grandmother was a head couturier at Mason Blanc in New Orleans. Guided by the pure instinct she passed on to her granddaughter, she could measure someone visually and cut clothes to fit them sans measurements. Linda's father was a pioneer both socially (he was involved with race relations) and professionally: his furniture-rental business changed the way consumers were used to thinking, much like Linda's luxury eco would do years later.
Linda studied Shakespeare and costume design at Oxford University in England and fashion design at the Colorado Institute of Art. In 2002, Linda began showing her couture collection on the runways in Paris. She returned to the U.S. to create the luxury eco by Linda Loudermilk designer sportswear line.
Nature is Linda's muse. It is the core of the materials she uses - and in some cases, helped invent - and the designs that she creates. From sasawashi, a linen-like fabric made from a Japanese leaf rich with anti-allergen and anti-bacterial properties, to bamboo pointelle, a butter-soft, highly sustainable fabric, Linda and her team work tirelessly to find and develop the highest quality, most ecologically sound textiles. Organic cotton. Reclaimed antique lace. Lenpur (wood pulp): like nature, the list is always growing and changing, enriching both the design team and those fortunate enough to wear them. What's next? A line of bamboo jersey casual wear to be sold exclusively at the luxury eco store (coming soon) on Hollywood's Melrose place. And only Linda and her team of designer eco-devotees know what earth-friendly textile will be featured in the spring '06 line. Stay tuned.

Paul Stamets
Mycologist, Author, Inventor & Founder of Fungi Perfecti
Paul Stamets has written 6 books on mushrooms, their cultivation and use. His latest book, Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World is due out in October, 2005, published by Ten Speed Press, Berkeley. Paul has been active in using mycelium in breaking down toxic wastes, capturing pathogenic bacteria, and has developed strategies where mycelium kick-starts habitat restoration in ecologically devastated environments. He has filed, to date, nearly 30 patents, with several approved or in process.
Working with the Bioshield Biodefense Program coordinated by NIH/USAID/USAMRIID, he has discovered that a rare polypore mushroom exclusive to the old growth forest of Washington State is highly active against pox viruses. In fact, of more than 200,000 samples submitted to the program, two of his extracts from two strains of this rare mushroom are in the top 10 of active samples submitted to date, pharmaceuticals included. In fact, his is the only natural product showing significant antiviral activity.
Paul advocates saving the old growth forest as a matter of national defense. Paul is a strong proponent of preserving biodiversity, the old growth forest, and for using environmentally rational strategies to displace dependencies on toxic chemicals. One of his patents on mycopesticides has been called an "Alexander Graham Bell" patent as it has the potential of replacing most chemical pesticides with an environmentally benign method. Receiver of several environmental awards, Paul gives credit to Nature, believing in the Natural Intelligence of the ecosystems that have given us life. A visionary thinker, yet practical, and down to Earth, Paul is dedicated to creating a heritage of knowledge that can passed down to future generations. He is founder and owner of Fungi Perfecti (www.fungi.com). His wife Dusty has inspired him, guiding him back to the old growth forests, and has been instrumental in these mycological pursuits.
