Candace Taylor is the Director of Corporate Strategy & Sustainability for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.  She currently works on Wal-Mart’s commitment to integrate social and environmental sustainability into its business practices by focusing on three big goals: 1) to have zero waste, 2) to use 100% renewable energy, and 3) to bring more sustainable products and services to its customers.  Additionally she serves as a resource for almost 2 million associates around the globe as they learn to lead more sustainable lives.

Before joining the Sustainability team, Ms. Taylor was responsible for real estate development of Wal-Mart stores & Sam’s Clubs.  Prior to joining Wal-Mart, Ms. Taylor was co-founder of Urban Oasis Development, LLC.  Urban Oasis is a real estate consulting firm focused on developing urban brownfields using environmentally friendly building practices.  Ms. Taylor and her partners founded Urban Oasis after winning the Best Blended Value prize at the Global Social Venture Competition.

Candace is honored to be an agent for social change and a proponent of sustainable business practices that improve quality and simultaneously drive innovation and profit. Each day she has the opportunity to witness Sam Walton’s philosophy that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. She completed her formal education at Howard University and graduate studies at Milano The New School for Management & Urban Policy in New York City.
