Marci Zaroff, founder and President of Under the Canopy, a leader in organic and sustainable fashions for women, children and the home, received a business degree from UC Berkeley and then began her career on Wall Street, moving on to co-found a thriving wellness center in NYC, known today as “The Institute for Integrative Nutrition.” A vegetarian since the age of 15, and also the founder of a national holistic magazine, an AVEDA spa and an organic café, Marci has been a dedicated consumer, entrepreneur and educator in the natural products/LOHAS industry for over two decades.

Having pioneered the market for ECOfashion®, a term she coined and trademarked to define the fusion of style and sustainability, Ms. Zaroff is a recognized visionary and thought leader in organic and sustainable fiber fashion and home products. She has spearheaded first time organic fiber initiatives with some of the nation’s leading retailers such as Whole Foods, AVEDA, Origins, Target, Macy’s, Spiegel, Sears, CB2, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Fortunoff. In 2007, Zaroff and Under the Canopy were the recipient of the Natural Product Industry’s prestigious “Socially Responsible Business Award”.

As a highly respected global expert in this arena, Ms. Zaroff regularly keynotes and lectures worldwide on such diverse topics as organic fiber and sustainability to the latest changes in federal “green” standards and fair trade. Her extensive personal experience made her a key driver in the Organic Trade Association’s Organic Fiber Council Steering Committee, which defined the standards for organic fiber certification and has led to the development of the global organic textile standard (GOTS). She is on the Board of Directors of the Organic Exchange, is an active member of IFOAM, OTA, the Green Spa Network and the Organic Center, is working with Transfair to develop the first Fair Trade Textile Certification program in the US, and is a fashion partner of the Environmental Media Association, Rainforest Foundation, National Resources Defense Council and Rainforest Alliance.

Ms. Zaroff is featured extensively in TV and print media, from The New York Times, Entrepreneur, Newsweek, and USA Today, to Vanity Fair, Lucky and InStyle, to CNN, E!’s “Fashion Police”, “The View”, “Good Morning America”, “The Tyra Banks Show” and “The Discovery Channel”, to just name a few. Marci was recently a finalist for ELLE Magazine’s “Mercury Style Award” and Fashion Group International’s “Rising Star Award”, was featured on ABC’s “Legends & Legacies”, and was honored by New York Moves Magazine as a 2008 “Power Woman”.

An avid yoga practitioner, artist and passionate organic consumer, Ms. Zaroff makes her home in Boca Raton with her two children, Jade and Mason, where she is co-founder and Chairman of South Florida Green Drinks.
