Patrick Nye

NyeBased in Portland, Oregon, Patrick Nye leads the non-profit Bonneville Environmental Foundation’s (BEF) primary fundraising activity of selling carbon offsets from renewable energy facilities (such as wind and solar) across North America. Patrick works with clients ranging from organic food producers and film productions to Major League Baseball teams, households and utilities.

Patrick also serves green builders and is a LEED Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council. Patrick has been with BEF since 2002 and in October 2007 his pioneering SkiGreen™ program won national recognition from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Leadership Awards.

Patrick’s first experience in environmental work took place on board the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Planetree where he was part of the first response for the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. Further activities in Alaska included converting hundreds of navigational lights and light houses from battery systems over to solar power. He later served on board the Coast Guard Ice Breaker, Polar Star, where he participated in global climate research in the Arctic Sea around Greenland and the North Pole.
