New Garden
"New Garden" is the re-emergence of the band formerly known as Garden, or Garden Variety. The sound is a blend of folk rock and groove, with an emphasis on melody and vocals, while featuring acoustic guitar and violin. Originally based in Los Angeles, Garden released two CD’s on the San Francisco label, Racer Records. Garden went dormant for a few years while singer songwriters Linda and Doug Moldawsky relocated & adjusted to life in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. The core voices have remained intact: Doug, Linda, and Linda's twin sister Molly Ruttan Moffat (drummer and singer.) The Boulder talents of Jape Abruscato on Bass and LA transplant Carrie Bartsch on violin complete the sound. The song "Tiny Stars" was written by Doug during the summer of 2011. The inspiration of the Occupy movement compelled him to re-work the lyrics, and "Tiny Stars" became " 99 Tiny Stars". The song has been posted on YouTube with video captured by Doug and Jape from the Occupy Boulder and Occupy Denver Rallies in October and November, 2011.
