Ann Obenchain
Ann Obenchain is the Vice President of Member Services and Marketing for Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), the premier trade association for companies in the active outdoor recreation business. OIA provides trade services and support for over 4000 manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, sales representatives, retailers, and non-profits in the outdoor industry.
At Outdoor Industry Association, Ann facilitates and provides oversight to the industry’s CSR Working Groups focusing on fair labor and environmental sustainability standards. The OIA Eco Working Group is currently developing impact evaluation methodology, programs, education, and communication tools to enable the industry, and its members, to reduce their environmental footprint.
In 2006, the OIA Fair Labor Working Group launched The OIA Fair Labor Toolkit providing outdoor businesses guidelines and strategies to monitor and enact socially responsible production processes and labor standards.
Prior to joining OIA, Ann directed the global branding and marketing efforts for multiple companies in the outdoor, ski and cycling industries such as Kelty, Atomic Ski USA, and Quest. Ann currently serves on advisory panels for The Conservation Fund’s National Forum on Children and Nature and Bainbridge Graduate Institute’s Sustainable MBA Outdoor Industry program. Ann holds a degree in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University.
