Triarco Industries Inc. of Wayne, NJ, named Greg Sowards director of strategic accounts and Adrian Possumato national sales director.
The Hain Food Group Inc. elected William Fox, president of strategic and corporate development of Revlon Inc., vice chairman of the board. He has served on the HAIN board since 1996 and is chairman of its audit committee.
General Nutrition Cos. said Greg Horn was promoted from chief marketing officer and senior VP of sales and marketing to COO and executive VP of marketing and business development. Also, General Nutrition named Michael Meyers executive VP and GM of its retail arm, General Nutrition Centers. He has been divisional VP of GNC’s Northeast region since 1991.
Wild Oats Markets said Mo Siegel, founder and chairman of Celestial Seasonings, joined its board of directors in October.
Four principals of Horizon Organic Dairy were named entrepreneurs of the year by the Boulder, CO, Chamber of Commerce in its annual Esprit Entrepreneur celebration. Paul Repetto, Mark Retzloff, Barney Feinblum and Marcus Peperzak received the awards. Horizon, started in 1991, posted almost $21 million in 1997 sales and expects $50 million in 1998.
Natrol Inc. of Chatsworth, CA, added Dr. Anthony Verlangieri to its scientific advisory board.
Earth Fare healthy supermarkets of Asheville, NC, hired Michael Cianciarulo as president and CEO. He moves from Gooding’s, a 13-store supermarket chain based in Orlando, FL.
Wild Oats Markets named Darrell Vannoy purchasing director for food service. Vannoy was formerly food service manager for Meijer in Grand Rapids, MI.
Portland, OR-based HealthNotes Online announced Tim O’Conner, former head grocery merchandiser with Nature’s Fresh Northwest, has been named G.M.; Cheryl Bottger, former wellness services manager for Nature’s Fresh, has been named director of marketing and product development; Dan Pearch, formerly of GNC’s International Franchise Division, has been named national account manager; and Caroline Petrich, formerly with the Oregon Business Journal, has been named marketing and public relations associate.
CV Technologies Inc., an Edmonton, AL, Canada-based biotechnology company, announced that Peter Pang, Ph.D., resigned as president and CEO and endorsed the appointment of James Bruce as his successor.
