Natural Business’ October issue reported that a study by the Stanford University Center for Research in Disease Prevention titled “Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Scientific Evidence and Steps Toward Integration” was funded by the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Office of Alternative Medicine. The study was actually paid for by San Diego-based American Specialty Health Plans and Woodland Hills, CA-based Health Net. The Stanford center itself is funded largely by NIH.
