Two testing labs have reported that some of the world’s largest grain multinationals, including Cargill, Continental, Archer Daniels Midland, Bunge, and Central Soya, are doing a “brisk business” by secretly segregating or sourcing nongenetically engineered grains for some European customers including Tesco, the U.K.’s largest supermarket chain. The claim, in a report by the Pure Foods Campaign, says the grain companies continue to publicly claim that it is not practical to separate and label gene-altered soy and corn, yet have found a way to supply their biggest customers, who can then advertise that they have non-GE products.
