FDA Issues Herbal Phen-Fen Warning Letter

FDA has issued a warning letter to HPF LLC, a maker of ephedra-based Herbal Phen-Fen and Herbal Phen-Fen Stage 2, against advertising the products as treatments for obesity. The products don’t contain either phentermine or fenfluramine, commonly referred to as phen-fen, which have been withdrawn from the market because of safety concerns. Additionally, FDA said the label for the product fails to give adequate directions for use and falsely misleads users to suggest that the products are recognized as safe and effective.
