DEA Extends Comment Period on Proposed Supplements Regulations
The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has extended to Feb. 15, 1999, the comment period for industry responses to the agency’s Sept. 16 proposal that would require all dietary supplements containing more than 2% ephedrine/pseudoephedrine to comply with federal registration and reporting requirements. At issue for the industry are the 2% requirement and increased paperwork for manufacturers and suppliers, according to the National Nutritional Foods Association.
