UNFI, Select Nutrition Establish Partnership

Select to handle distribution of personal care products.

United Natural Foods Inc. (Nasdaq: UNFI) has a new shared-distribution agreement with New York-based Select Nutrition Distributors Inc. As part of the new arrangement, Select will take over the distribution of "certain" health and beauty products and supplements, according to a Dec. 12 announcement. Select will store and ship the products, however UNFI customers will continue to use the company's existing order process.

The transition will begin in March 2004; full implementation should be complete by May.
